WA Day Festival

Fremantle

Sunday 2 June 12 – 8pm

FREMANTLE FISHING BOAT HARBOUR

This is the day to come together to celebrate our shared values and cultural diversity. The WA Day Festival pays tribute to our Aboriginal history, our early European migrant background and the diverse range of international people who have made, and continue to make, Freo and WA their home.

Local Aboriginal elders will open the event on June 2 with a traditional smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country, followed by music and dance performances from several different cultures. A corrobee will take place on Bathers’ Beach later in the day.

All weekend you can enjoy musical and dance events in and around the harbour from talented performers who reflect the diverse background of WA’s residents. The festival will culminate with a dazzling lights and pyrotechnic display at the family-friendly time of 6pm Sunday.

Festival Highlights:

  • Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony
  • Wadumbah Dance Group
  • Chung Wah Lion Dance Ensemble
  • Cultural Dance groups representing world cultures
  • Live musical performances
  • Corrobee on Bathers’ Beach
  • Light & Pyrotechnic Finale
